I found it very interesting  how Sarah schulman was able to incorporate the very fine details and good imagery of New York which mad it feel like i was their at the time. This even surprised myself as i was born and raised in New York  but still knew very little about the place where i was born.

Reflection
I believe that Sara Schulman did an excellent job during the literature round table in the Atrium Amphitheater. She uses a lot of imagery in her literature works that helps readers have a perspective of the narrator in the story. What caught my attention was that she uses New York in her literature works as the setting. Even though there may be some issues in New York, she loves and is proud of being a New Yorker.
Reflection
It was really exciting meeting Sarah Schulman, first author I ever met in my life. I learned a lot of things from her. I liked how she told us young people to try and make our community better and stopping gentrification in NYC. And also after she read from her book the Cosmopolitan, I loved how she interacted with everyone, giving us advice, asking and answering question with us, asking people to participate or share anything. That’s what a good author is.
Snow Day # 2!
As you have most likely heard, CUNY is closed again tomorrow as a result of the Blizzard.
Please use tomorrow to catch up on the reading, and start working on your creative non-fiction assignment. If possible, please email me your proposals for the creative non-fiction project tomorrow, and I will read them and give you feedback by email. My email is: mbehrent@citytech.cuny.edu
Also, please work on  Reader Response Paper # 4 in which you should focus on your overall reactions to Men We Reaped and/or your reaction to the end of Men We Reaped. As always, you must include at least one quotation from the text.
We will also likely have a visitor in class with us on Thursday, so please be on time and prepared!
Stay warm and safe!
Reflection
Meeting the author Sarah Schulman was such a significant experience. It allowed us to learn more about her and learn what her thoughts are on specific topics. I remember she was talking about gentrification. She mentioned we shouldnât allow this to keep happening because New York should continue being diverse. People with different culture backgrounds is what it should be made up of. Us young people shouldnât allow things that we donât agree with to happen. If we want change, we have to act up to have one because we are the future. Sarah Schulman is definitely one more person that’ll be on my list of inspirations. Inspiring me to get more involved in trying to make a change for the better.
Reflection
After the literature roundtable with Sarah Schulman, I learned one thing or two. She focused her topic of gentrification along with reading an excerpt from her book, Cosmopolitan. I learned how New York had changed a lot from her perspective and it has caused many issues such as homelessness, and it tends to continue as we move forward in the future. Older and outdated buildings are being deconstructed and replaced with modern version which also replaced the people who lived there. How can we prevent it as well as continue modernized the city? After the reading, I liked how she wants everybody in the audience to participate and be part of it by sharing one of their works. Questions from the audience also deepen the topic of gentrification and others related to Cosmopolitan. She gave her full understanding in her answers and was able to answer all the questions that was given to her.
Reflection
After hearing to Sarah Schulman, it motivated me to start writing and continue on my fiction story. I enjoyed hearing everyone sharing their written pieces and the questions they had to Schulman. Everyone were so creative with their responses and listening to them were breath taking.
Reflection
I found it interesting meeting Sarah Schulman because I had never met an author before. Also, I found it cool how she was able to answer every question thrown at her regardless of the question. She was prepared and her talking showed that her life and her experiences had help her write the books she has written. Also, find it amazing that she not just has 18 books published, but also has a movie as well , a documentary i think she said it was on amazon prime. She seems to be a very successful person and is also a Teacher in the Cuny system. I think I can write a pretty interesting book about all the experiences I had growing up it would be very suspenseful and humors and I think it may catch peoples attention and they would be able to relate to it.
Reflection
The Literature Roundtable with Sarah Schulman had made me learn a lot of things that happen during the 1950s in New York City. Also, that we need to be aware what is going in today’s world. It was my first time meeting a writer and I saw she was very excited to hear our work. I love how she very proud and stays strong in what she believes in.
