For second semester we had to do a poster presentation and my group chose to do our topic on the Relationship between Periodontal disease and Diabetes. We found some very interesting information linking these two diseases. We found studies that looked at how patients with poorly controlled type 1 and type 2 diabetes are more susceptible to periodontal disease. Another study looked at how untreated periodontitis can complicate glycemic control of patients with diabetes. This was a wonderful learning experience.
