obvious figure-ground relationship painting

This painting depicts my cat staring into your soul with lifeless eyes, while sitting on wooden planks. The brightest things in this painting is her bright spots of fur, morning daylight, and the object carrier on the left (that I still don’t know the name of.) Because of how similarly colored my cat is to the floor, she is nearly as camouflaged as she tends to be in real life.

ambiguous figure-ground relationship painting

This painting depicts an odd angle of a  tree’s leaves sprawled out and drooping. While varying values are present, the natural bright boarders help the leaves stand out from the background. And to some extent, the leaves obscure and turn the once simple background (grass, tiles & piles) into a somewhat busy environment. Little smudges of paint dance around the borders.
