RWA9: Reading Barthes and Deciding What We Will Read Next
DUE: Monday, March 11

For next Monday, please do two things:

First, please re-read Barthes’ preface to Mythologies.  Then, please explain what you think his project is about.  Then, please explain your definition of the word “myth.”  After doing this, please look up the word “myth” on Wikipedia.  Is the definition you found similar or dissimilar to the one you wrote?  Choose one of Barthes’ short essays to read.  What do you think of this piece of writing?  What do you think is going on in this piece of writing?

Second, take a look at some of the titles in Oxford University Press’s Very Short Introductions Series, as well as the readings on Professor Rodgers’ Web site.  Here is the link to Professor Rodgers’ list of readings:  http://www.digitalcomposition.org/essays-and-articles  Here is the link to the  OXFORD VERY SHORT INTRODUCTIONS
Are there specific topics/titles that you’d be interested in reading?  Please create a short blog post explaining and advocating for the readings or Oxford titles that you’d be most interested in reading.   If you would prefer to continue reading Barthes’ Mythologies, please make that preference known.
