While watching the video I was surprised to learn that monasteries and institutions like colleges not only enhanced the grow of populated cities, but as well as the demand for more manuscripts; which in sense allowed innovators such as Gutenberg to create innovations like moveable characters to speed up the process of mass production.

    Yes. One could say that in the West, Gutenberg started the process of mass production.
