The first poster I chose is by Malik Roberts. He is a multimedia painter that works with images that associate with the media. I like really like this poster because of the multiple mediums he used to make it. Roberts used acrylics, oil sticks, and charcoal. Theres a nice contrast between the beautiful woman and the roughness of the oil sticks which I think works nicely.
The second poster I chose is by Donnie Ramsey. He also goes by Donisdope. His work infuses unique, stunning, and culturally drive piece that resonate with pop culture. The main reason why I chose this poster is because I found the way they it was created quite endearing. It states that “This piece was comprised of paper sketches and digital illustrations created by myself and my 3 young sons.” I love that fact that he included his children in his work to make it their work. Each son is represented by something in the poster which is very heartfelt and personal.
The last poster I chose is by Hunter Saxony III. This poster is absolutely beautiful and calligraphic. Saxony III is a self taught calligrapher and installation artist whose work shows mortality, ritual practice, and preservation, loss, and discovery of self. I found this interesting because without reading about the creators work I felt this sort of feeling that sounds rather morbid, but fitting. The best way I could describe it is based on a flower called a spider lily. Spider lilies are associated with death and loss, but also represents a positive nature. freshness, ad simply living of life.
Beautiful descriptions; I’m glad you took away the piece by Hunter Saxony III, the one that reminds you of the spider lily.
