Review the four examples below anddiscuss the type in each. Sans Serif? Bold? Extruded? Playful? Hand-Lettered? Extruded? 3-Dimensional? How does the typography represent the subject matter? You can do a little research using the links provided.

Ex 1) The title “Dream in color” makes it feel like a play on words. The background, is indeed very colorful but the type itself, is very bland. It a very large and bold type, that creates a great contrast with the cover art.

Ex 2) The “Extra Bold” title really works for the type here because not only is the type itself very large and bold, but the colors of the cover itself is very “Bold”, the colors really emphasize it.

Ex 3) The monochromatic look of the page really draws your eyes into the center of the cover. Which I imagine was an intentional detail, anything else could have really distracted from the type. Additionally the fact that the only “non-stylized” typeface is the word “Centered” makes it stand out in a sense.

Ex 4) I personally find this last cover a little difficult to read, it has a very exaggerated cover art which distracts away form the type.

Nicely said, Prianne. Do you think the slipcase (number 4) is challenging to read by design?
