I see Mayan and Aztec influences in both the typography and design. It is patterned and illustrative with fantastic use of color. The site utilizes a triad pallette of red-orange, blue-green and blue-violet which happens to be one of my favorite color combos. I think it’s visually captivating and the use of color is what makes it readable. If the color hadn’t changed at the end of the intro animation, it would’ve been completely unreadable. I think the point of the type was to mimic the architecture of the native areas of Central America the heads of the creatures represent the gods in the native culture and the key patterns are what is physically carved into the temples.

The word Multilingue means “El concepto refiere a quien habla diferentes idiomas.” Meaning in English, “it’s the concept referring to a person who speaks different languages.” Which is what the conference is about, design in Central America and the use of design in languages other than English.
