I like Paula Scher’s work, all The Public Theater covers caught my attention. especially the 3 an 4 pngs. They are very expressive and perfect for the event that she is advertising. love it’s sense of bold and authentic chaos. I did initially assume that it may be an existing san serif font. however after looking at her primary sketch of the cover an her final product, i can tell she designed the the font. Paula Scher is an popular American graphic designer, she is also a painter, and art educator. For over four decades sh has ambitiously work to reinvent and revolutionize the world of graphic design through her ardent work.

You have a great way with a phrase. “Bold and authentic chaos” is brilliant.

You’re correct that in some cases Paula Scher designs the font. For a lot of her Public Theater work, she uses a typeface called Knockout, designed by Hoefler & Co. Knockout has many weights and variations.
