Location Choice & Process for Essay #3

I chose Columbus Park because I loved the nature in the park, it is also surrounded by great statues and historic buildings. When I walked through the park I saw a lot of overlapping New York’s, this motivated me to choose this location.

Directions:

Walk towards the F,A,C Jay St-Metrotech Stop

Walk through the opening towards Adams St

  1. I chose the Brooklyn Heights Promenade because when your there you don’t feel like your in New York because of its quietness. I loved the view from the Brooklyn heights promenade and it feels really good to see the building, the Brooklyn bridge, and the Statue of liberty and when you see that you know that your in New York.

    Directions:
    1) Head north on Jay st to Tillary street
    2) turn right on Cadman plaza
    3) make a left on Clark street
    4) make a left on Columbia heights
    5) make a right on Remsen street and your there

      A few questions:
*What overlap are you focusing on at the Promenade?
*How would a classmate know which direction is north? what landmarks or notable features could you provide to help them?
*Do you mean Cadman Plaza East or Cadman Plaza West?
*Is the Promenade at the intersection of Remsen and Columbia Heights?
*If you’re on Clark Street, is the Remsen Street entrance to the Promenade the closest? most attractive? Why not enter closer to Clark Street?

  2. Think about how you can make your directions more detailed for someone who might not know where the Jay Street subway station is. What landmarks or notable spots would you include, and what cautions or tips might you provide? How does someone know when they’ve gotten there?
