This academic year has been a full on rollercoaster. There are many things that I learned throughout the year. It was things that I found interesting and things that I naturally just learned. Because of the research paper, I had learned what an auto-bibliography was. I thought that it was something that you made websites and put them into MLA format and that was it. It was way more than that. In someways I learned on how to write better. Use more constructive words rather than simple vague words. College pushed me to do that because in order to get a good grade, you must adapt to the big change. With that in mind, my writing became more sophisticated. Well more sophisticated than it was before. Honestly i wasn’t writing like this in high school. But in high school there was a little bit of slack. I would say that was my biggest challenge. The change in the way that I write and describe things were the hardest for me. I wasn’t the best writer and I would like to use simple words just to get the assignment over with. Unlike high school, college is in a whole different ball park. When I enrolled in the class I did expect my writing to advance from what it was 4 years ago or even what it was when I enrolled. It has been a huge learning curve for me. The ways that expressed an article or described things will carry on to my future. This is not my full potential but I know I will learn new tactics and become a better writer just for the plain fact people won’t look at my work and say that “a kid wrote it.” Things like that is what I want to avoid and this class made me take those steps to avoid it. Yes, it was hard but towards the end it became second nature. I am far from perfect as you can probably tell about the way I am writing this reflection. But some day I will get there. I want to be a Computer Engineer and with that job I will be having to write ideas and reports on things in that field. When that time comes, I want the advisor to have no problem reading and have no questions in regarding to what I wrote. I want my reports and ideas to be clear as day. I’m not there yet but one day I will be and this class made me take myself further by taking those steps for the betterment of my writing. The beginning I always though that anything more than three hundred words were a lot. But I have been non stop typing and I am almost at five hundred words. When we had those ten minute free writes there were barely words. If we did one of those now there would be almost twice the amount of words. Not only during class this semester, I learned how to type faster because of my out of class hobbies like video games. I started to use keyboard and mouse which kind of actually helped me type without looking which is honestly the best thing I learned this year. It has been an amazing semester and hope that I can grow on the skills that I learned and achieve my goal.
