Micro-Activity #6 Antigone

In this article Antigone is a girl who was disobeying law and her king Creon. She loves her brother Polynices but her king didn’t allow anyone to touch his body but Antigone wanted to bury her brother’s body. She didn’t care about herself if she did that then what will happen with herself. She only thinks about her brother’s body and their lovely relationship.

Antigone loves her brother that’s why she wanted to move and touch her brother’s body and bury his body. But the king Creon of the state, declared that no one can bury the body. But Antigone didn’t agree with his law. She said this is wrong why she didn’t touch her brother’s body and buried him, this was their right, why the king was interfering in their family. She shared with her sister a buried brother’s body but her sister requested her not to do that because that is illegal and disobeying the law and king. Her sister also said if the king will know about that then what will happen with you, you didn’t know about that. Then Antigone said she didn’t care about herself, if king declared death penalty for that she will accept it. I consider Antigone as a hero because she fought for right and didn’t care about herself and just show her love for her brother. She claimed the law was wrong, she has to speak up about the law and against the law. But I believed, the King of the city Creon didn’t give Antigone justice. Because he thought if he allowed her to break the law or do something illegal then the public would follow her and they would start all illegal things. Also he thought if Antigone refused his power and the public also followed her then he might lose his power or authority. By the way, Antigone inspired me to fight for the law which was wrong.

In the video the play is the best way to understand Antigone’s opinion about the law. All the characters give me better information about Antigone.

    Sabah,

When discussing a piece of work (whether it’s literature, art, etc.), be sure to identify the genre correctly. You have called Antigone an “article,” when it is a play.

That said, you make some really compelling points about Antigone and the power of love.
Also, I like what you said about Antigone inspiring you to fight against unfair laws. I’m wondering what laws you you are thinking about & if these laws (or one of them) might provide good subject matter for the Annotated Bibliography assignment (See agenda for Week 9).
