Municipal Building Brooklyn

Municipal Building Brooklyn

I have never stepped my foot out to the real Brooklyn and when I did, I went no further than just sight seeing a few buildings behind the City Tech College. My friend Silma and I walked past this beautiful column building on Joralemon Street and Adams Street Brooklyn Bridge Boulevard. This building rewinded my memories way back to ninth grade when my teacher was teaching us about ancient Egyptian architecture in Global History class. Our class used to roll the paper to make columns and tape the bottom to the table to create support for an imaginary flat paper ceiling. We would then present our column projects in front of class and repeat some random facts from the internet. The only fact that I still remember saying was, ” The columns are a compression member for a architectural structure” I feel like a genius remembering this one fact way back from ninth grade but I still struggle to remember the definition of compression.
