Discussion: DC words

In class, we’ve read several texts (including videos) that we can use to think about discourse communities.

We’ve also started a semester-long glossary project, in which we will spend more time thinking carefully about words.

Choose a word you see as distinctly part of a discourse community we have encountered, and in a comment below, explain why you feel it stands out to you as specific to that discourse community.

In another paragraph in your comment, choose a word that’s in a discourse community you’re a part of and explain why you feel it is a good example of a part of your discourse community’s vocabulary, or lexis. Spend some time thinking about this because it could become part of your Project 1 narrative.
