Unit 3 – Genre Assignment _ Sara Reyes

Struggling with obesity as a teen/tween? Are you looking to overcome obesity? Do you want to prevent become obese? It is never to early or too late to begin your Journey.

Initially I wanted to continue writing about “Why America is top rank of Obesity?” But after coming across great health information, I decided to expand my research and focus more on Overcoming Obesity & Preventing Obesity in Teens & Tweens.  I will argue that it is never too early nor too late to change your eating habits & become more active. I will argue that teens & tweens can begin strength training as early as 7 years old. There are many theories and negative opinions of early age training but I will argue/educate the reader that this is actually a huge benefit for them; when done correctly, it is safe & effective. I will include different ways of fitness such as walks, sports & that movement is movement.

My information will be transpired through an educational health magazine, pamphlet/brochure or Health & Wellness blog; I haven’t decided which one to pick. My research will include information from the CDC, health professionals article (Mayo Clinic), health professional article (John Hopkins Medicine) & Nationwide Childrens.

My genre is intended for Adolescent & Adults. As a parent we too need some guidance in helping our child overcome obesity and how to prevent it in the long run. As they get older and more independent they go through hormonals changes and become “lazy”. My information will help teens/tweens and parent understand that fitness is as easy as a stroll in the park or through a sport. The earlier the child gets into a habit of being active it would be easier for them as teens/tweens to continue the routine and stay fit in their later age.
