Introductions Lilli J

Tell us anything you’d like us to know about you! Some suggestions are…

  • Your major
  • How you got interested in math/computer science
  • What you hope to do after you graduate from CityTech; short-term goals, long-term goals, whatever…
  • What you hope to get out of this course (I don’t mean which grade you want!
  • Other interests/hobbies you have

My major is computer systems technology, i was enrolled in advanced science classes since grade school, and always participated in science fairs, eventually going to intel in high school. i chose to work in theatre doing lighting though, but when i realized i disliked this career choice i re-enrolled in citytech and switched my major from theatre. i hated my last logic course but im hoping this will be better and i will understand the course. i do like calculus so maybe. my other  hobbies are riding horses (i have worked at stables in brooklyn) and traveling when i can.

Introducing Francis.x.Irizarry

  • Major: Computer Science
  • Reason for “Math/Computer Science”: My father is an IT manager, or rather a CIO at HSBC, Granted that he refused to involve any form of technological information upon myself I took an interest in hardware/software. I am trying to transfer to City College Grove School of Engineering (However, I was rejected for not having calculus 2, sadly the only reason.) I personally enjoy computers to an reasonable extent, and it is within my interests since I spend a majority of my day on a computer.
  • I do not plan to graduate from “CityTech”, I do not have any short or long term goals. Sadly. I want to succeed. That’s all.
  • ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) (Tries to be funny and says they want a A) What I hope to get out of this course: Knowledge of how to define, create, and to develop algorithms. I want to become more efficient in Mathematics including (Current classes: Calculus 2, Physics 1, and Discrete mathematics and algorithms (and I am taking a programming class, with the same professor from the previous semester, which is/was/and will probably remain a joke)
  • Other interests/hobbies: I’m pretty boring, nothing much to offer, sorry.
  • Additional information: I was never good at math, and I was never truly given opportunities to involve myself in programming/server management until 2 semesters ago. I am a lazy imbecile. I will probably not involve myself in anything/anyone automatically.

Welcome and first assignment – Introduce yourself – due Tuesday, February 7

Welcome to your MAT 2440 OpenLab page! All course information will be posted here. From time to time, you will be adding posts yourself as well. Take a look around!

Your first assignment is to add yourself to our OpenLab course and to submit a post introducing yourself to the class. Your post is due by 8am on Monday, February 8.

  1. Sign up for an OpenLab account using your CityTech email address.
  2. After you’ve logged in, add yourself to our MAT 2440 class.
  3. From the class OpenLab site you can create a new post by clicking the symbol that looks like a + sign inside a circle at the top of the screen.
  4. Title your post “Introducing [your first name] [your last name].” (You may use just initials if you like, as long as there’s enough information for me to locate you on my official roster.)
  5. From the categories on the right-hand side of the screen, make sure to select “Introduce yourself” so that the rest of us can locate your post later.
    • Other interests/hobbies you have
  7. Read and comment on at least one your classmates’ posts. (Note: the administrator will have to approve your comments, so don’t be surprised if they don’t appear right away.)
