THIS IS HOW YOU CAN CHECK YOUR OWN CARBON FOOTPRINT

  • Ripka, Livia Albeck-. “How to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint.” The New York Times, The New York Times, 2017, www.nytimes.com/guides/year-of-living-better/how-to-reduce-your-carbon-footprint.

We chose this chose mainly because the title basically gives it all. This article gives a lot of information when answering question, “how can I reduce carbon pollution?” The article itself actually give a lot of information and examples to the readers on how we can actually reduce carbon pollution and encourages people to do it at home, and outside in the real world. (Darwin)

I chose this source because in the article, it gives a lot of information that helps make my agreement stronger. when answering my question. The article itself actually give a lot of information and examples into the question of, how long do we really have left. When people say we have amount of  years left, many people don’t believe them or think that its just a myth.  However, for the readers that read this article, the author give many reasons on how we can actually reduce carbon pollution, our own footprint itself, and why its important. The authors provides examples on what we can do at home, and outside in the real world, that affects carbon pollution, and our overall our environmental system. (Darwin)

  • Lambrechts, Wim, et al. “The role of individual sustainability competences in eco-design building projects.” Journal of cleaner production 208 (2019): 1631-1641.

Within this research it explores the role of individual sustainability competences in eco-building projects of enterprises in the Netherlands. Highlighting preferred strategic and action dimensions over normative competence, and a study confirming theoretical conceptualization of virtuous sustainability competence.

The website is very important to the performance to understand how energy is used in everyday life within buildings. People might not think that them using energy doesn’t do a lot of impact, but actually has more than they expected. Even though it is statistics, people have more a general understanding how much energy they are wasting.

This source talks about how More than one third of the global primary energy is consumed in commercial and residential buildings for heating, ventilating, cooling, lighting, and operation of appliances. In addition to that a lot of the material that goes into building a building produces a big part of energy and green house gases, since building burn most of the fossil fuel they are the leading cause of the carbon pollution. The source was published in 2018  so not that long ago meaning most of their data collected shouldn’t be too far off form the one they have today.  The source also states how the building developers want to start building with a near zero – energy  and carbon emission.  the article also talks about how they want to approach the zero-energy consumption of buildings.

I selected this source because it states about what Carbon footprint is, and how it’s affecting the
environment and it’s causing global warming. It also states how the carbon footprint has been
increasing more and more over the years and the temperature of the earth is increasing. This is because
it is melting the glaciers which is causing the sea level to rise. In general carbon pollution is bringing
harmful effects to people.

  • Enking, Molly. “New York City’s Newly Passed Green New Deal, Explained.” Grist, 18 Apr. 2019, https://grist.org/article/new-york-citys-newly-passed-green-new-deal-explained/.

I chose this source because in the article, it gives a lot of information on what New York City plan to make it more green. The article talks about the changes that will be made in New York City. Like one of them is focusing largely on local building standards, the city has been able to carve out green legislation within its jurisdiction.

This source helps me to make a specific category of types of garbage within the construction site and how to reuse elements and focus on standardized modules of panels such as walls and floor to avoid having to cut elements and generate greater losses of resources and money.

The source is credible because it is information given by different countries based on case studies that includes statistical and analytical information.
