A major issue that NYCHA is facing is the lack of heating these building is giving towards the residents. So many residents have suffered through the winter seasons without hot water nor heating system. As of recent, a news report showed that residents from Eagle avenue did not have heating for almost 8 years and this family of four got the opportunity to be selected to move from a NYCHA building that was also suffering the lack of heat and to end up in a new building with the same situation.

According to the Physical Needs Assessment Report is stated that they need about 3 million dollars in order to fix and upgrade the heating system. Not to mention, by 2020 they will promote that residents shouldn’t be under the legal limit temperature. Adding on, the way these residents survive through the cold was by heating water when taking showers, have the pot heating water in order to keep the room warmer and stuffing the window with pillows, blankets, and all kind of insulation to keep the cold out.
