What I enjoyed about this piece, is the attitude towards his words throughout chapter 1. This piece is definitely the first-person point of view. The author tends to mention themselves a lot throughout the chapter. This chapter talks about the history of Ta-Nehisi Coates, perhaps a slave on a Virginia plantation. I liked the way the author turns this book into a non-fiction story. One question I would love to ask the author of “The Water Dancer,” is What was your first thought about this series? and what did you developed first, was it the tile or the body paragraphs?
