Today seemed like a normal day. Well about as normal as you can get with a full scale pandemic affecting your city, New York City. It is the year 2022. Birds were chirping. The suns was rising high above the clouds. The air was warm and crisp. All signs of summer. As you wake up, you realize you are late to your online class. You scramble to log in, as you don’t even fix your bed, organize your massive amounts of toilet paper in your room. As you enter the class, you see some virus shaped cells outside your window roaming around. “What can this be?” You think as everyone talks at once saying they see it too. An Emergency alarm blares on your phone, with the short message on repeat. A mutation of the COVID-19 virus strain has been reported. Please stay indoors. May god protect you all. The messages also comes with a breaking news report, saying viruses tend to adapt and mutate over time to change with there present environment, you wonder “when will this ever end.”
Having an eerie point of view for the short story made this a good read to look at. It’s relatable and puts you in the story itself as if you were there. The visual details were good also. Nice short story.
