Cindy woke up a loud alarm clock she set for 9:30am. It was time for her usual routine in the morning. She didn’t eat much, just a banana with some coffee before getting ready for online learning for an hour and forty minute calculus college class. Ever since a pandemic caused all in person to go remote, not only Cindy and others were forced to be at home apart from getting essential items, the sun hasn’t risen since early last month either. Every day of every hour was total darkness. Morning was night and night was still nighttime, the only difference was that the moon would appear for only a small portion of time. This wasn’t a northern or Southern Hemisphere geographic issue. This was a worldwide issue. Plants and animals were dying. People weren’t getting the essential vitamin D for their skin and body. Everything was falling apart. Was the sun not there? Did it disappear out of the blue? It would seem so as scientists discovered weeks later the Earth moved a significant distance away from the sun without any warning before. Everyday was cold and lifeless. However everyday people must get to their jobs, have their education taught and live life for as long as possible in this “new normal” Cindy was one of those people. She didn’t want to life like this anymore. One month in and so much has happened not only to her but people just like her all over the world. Once she did her daily activities of college class time online, eating something canned for three times during the day and lounging around her bed watching shows on HBO max, she settled in for the night and went to bed. She didn’t know what time of the day it was, like it mattered at that point. However, as soon as the ‘next day’ rolled around there was a bright light that filled the room.
i like how the character really talks about the time experienced during the pandemic and how it was different from normal times and how her days were different how the weather was different and what activities the character took part in while at home
