Jones’ reading was a bit tricky to think about honestly, at first I didn’t know the time period the plot took place at first. Regardless the story was relatable for many who perhaps came from another country. If they had young children going to school it might be a life changing experience. Adjusting to a new environment for both the mother and child might’ve been difficult but if that’s what they need to do to pave their way through new lives then it must be done. It was a bit disheartening to read that the mother didn’t know how to read as well. For a reading that was shorter than expected, there was a lot of key sentences that stood out that people could resonate towards their own life. It was a solid read.
