Freshman year of high school and the first day of tryouts. I was nervous, I’ve never played basketball before, but I was interested in an extra-curricular activity. All new faces none in which I haven’t recognized in any of my classes (my school had a lot of students). I was partnered with a short person for a basketball drill. I’m not really much of a talker when it comes to new people, I’m too shy, as for her it’s the opposite, she’s outgoing and friendly. We instantly clicked and were able to make conversation from that first day. After that our friendship grew from there, seeing each other everyday from basketball practice, meeting up with each other in the hallways during class, and hanging out with each other after school. Nothing but laughs with her, we made jokes until our stomach ached and cheeks burned. I loved her for that, she was real, kind, original and someone that’s shy needed as a friend. She brings out a personality trait you didn’t even know you had. Her name is Onaisha by the way, she’s the perfect friend always available when needed and ready to have fun. I look up to her as a person, as she is determined and always goes after what she wants. She’s taught me a lot as a person and how to be a better friend, I love her so much and I’m so grateful to have someone like her to be introduced to.
