Discussion Week 1

After reading the first chapter of Truth & Beauty by Ann Patchett, I really enjoyed reading a brief introduction to the start of their friendship. I liked how Patchett was very descriptive when talking about the reasons why she didn’t notice Lucy’s face like other people saw her. It showed that she never really criticized to looked at Lucy differently.

I like how in the text she inserted some of the letters that Lucy had written her. They showed how intimate their relationship was and in the first letter you could tell how poetic Lucy is. My question would be, Did her habit of trying to make men love her ever become a bigger issue? Like an obsession?

    Hi Angelica,
I like how you mentioned of what type a person Ann was. She was never judging, open, and friendly about everything Lucy had and was doing. Do you think that Lucy has greately mistaken sex for love?
