The first two poems I chose are by Edgar Allen Poe. I’m a big sucker for good rhyme and rhythm, and Poe takes these to whole new level. Aside from that, the story in each of the poems is fascinating.
I first read this poem by Gwendolyn Brooks back in 6th grade and though I can’t say it’s my favorite, it is definitely up there in the rankings. What really made love this poem is the pacing of it, which throughout feels very abrupt.
This last poem I chose partly because of the rhyme(I’m a really big sucker for it). Besides that, I actually liked how well the poem flowed and the story that it told
