Kiara Wright Memoir 2

I went to Boys and Girls high school and when I was a Junior, there was an art teacher who knew art competitions that happens every year. The teachers name is Ms. Abraham. I never had her as a teacher, but my friends have, and I would go with them to her class to say hello and I showed some of the art I did. One day I went to her class and she told me about an art competition to get work displayed in the Metropolitan Museum. The image that I competed with is a scratchboard of an owl. This was the second time that I ever did scratchboard, and the process is not hard, it’s just time consuming.  I was only able to get to the semifinals with this image. Because I was one the semifinalist, I got my artwork displayed at the Brooklyn Museum on May 27th and 28th of 2015.

That is amazing Kiara, Congratulations!! I alway say art is for the gifted because only a few people have the talent to bring an object to life on a canvas/ paper. You should be so proud of yourself and please continue to do art because the world does not have a lot of your talent.

Have you worked on any other piece since then? / Is art your current major?
