My topic is cartel violence in Mexico and how it relates to the U.S. I want to say that the social justice issue in this case is the innocent civilians caught in the middle of the crossfire.

These cartels are big suppliers of drugs into the United States, they make millions on millions by doing so. This is what motivates them to continue fighting their cartel rivals, they want more land, more money, more power. They are only successful with drugs in the U.S. because there is a demand here. People go out of their way to get drugs because they’re illegal. There was also something done by the U.S. to try to take down cartels but did not go as planned. I am talking about Operation Fast and Furious.

I plan on investigating how the U.S. has contributed to the Cartel violence in Mexico, both the good and the bad. I also plan on investigating the innocent civilians caught in the crossover in Mexico as a result of the violence.

Questions:

Is the U.S. partly to blame for Cartel Violence in Mexico?

Did Cartel Violence increase or decrease after U.S. intervention?

What are the consequences the civilians suffer as a result of cartels in Mexico?
