The writers of the play Antigone in Ferguson did a good job connecting the play back to modern society. They made the decision by asking members of the community to be involved in the process of the play from beginning to end. This transcended to the performance and how the audience received it. Additionally, by modernizing this play it opens up the conversation about how it relates to the politics of today as well as helping people understand it better because the themes are still the same as the original. I enjoyed watching this performance because they were speaking in modern English so I was able to follow along with everything that was happening. They invited the members of the police force because there is a parallel with what is going on in the play and with society. This was a peaceful way of having an open conversation so people could get their thoughts and feelings across.
