Basically civil disobedience is refusal to obey a law especially as nonviolent and refusal to obey a government demands. I think Antigone engages in civil disobedience because Antigone believes violence is not the answer and non violent direct action should take place. She believes that there are unjust laws, and that she has a moral duty to disobey a law that contradicts what she thinks is right. Antigone’s decision not to follow Creon’s decree against giving Polynices a proper burial so this is civil disobedience and refusal to obey the law. For example, “Antigone argues that burying Polynices is obeying the laws of the gods, which demand that her brother be given a proper burial.” This means that Antigone felt that the law of the god is more important than the law of the men.
