The three discourse communities I belong two are:
1. outside operations community- I work at a country club at the golf side. There are other sections of the club, like pool, kitchen, tennis, etc. Here we have our own equipment we use, for example a range picker to pick up golf balls, and some specific language like loop, which means caddyining for 9 or 18 holes.
2. latino community at club- within the golf course there is a number of latino workers that span the different areas of the club. We interact with each other when times dictate use having to cross paths. We communicate to one another in spanish.
3. caddy community- in the club, there are those who also caddy. When I go into caddy, I am basically a independent contractor. I do not get paid by the club i get paid directly by members. There individuals who come all over to caddy too and we all stay in a certain area to be called to work. Ways of communication involve speaking all the slang terms of golf.
