What is the tragic connection between Antigone and Ferguson?
What kind of research do you think the theater artists had to do to connect this ancient Greek tragedy to a real-life, modern-day one.

The OpenLab is an open-source, digital platform designed to support teaching and learning at City Tech (New York City College of Technology), and to promote student and faculty engagement in the intellectual and social life of the college community.
The connection between Antigone and Ferguson was that a person’s body was left outside in the open after death. Also because of the the dead was no longer seen as people but things. They had to search up the history of the place they were visiting in oder to see if the story can connect with people in modern day. They had to find similar cases.
The main connection between the Ancient Greek play and Antigone in Ferguson is the inhumane treatment of the bodies. Not only were both Antigone’s brother and Michael Brown left out in the sun, both tragedies were very public. A huge crowd gathered around Michael Brown’s body, and the play implied the whole city saw Antigone bury her brother.
Most of the research would have to concern Creon and the draconian laws of the time, in order to draw the right parallels with today’s law enforcement.
The connection between Antigone and Ferguson comes down to both, Antigone and the Ferguson community standing against what they believe is unfair. They’re both very divisive topics, as many people have different opinions on these tragic events.
In terms of research, I believe the author had previous knowledge of Antigone, and found ways to connect it to what happened in Ferguson.
Antigone and Ferguson play have in common the connections of social injustice between the respective victims. There was different point of view made by the respective community regarding what they believe is good or bad in this play.
The Author appears to relate the two plays by researching the social effect in the respective play of Antigone and Ferguson.
• Both Antigone and Ferguson had loved one who died and treated unfairly.
•The theater artists probably researched the laws enforced back then and the different class systems between society.
The tragic connection between Antigone and Ferguson was that after death, a person’s body was left outside in the open.
In terms of research, I assume the author was familiar with Antigone and was able to link it to the events in Ferguson.
The Connection between the story of Antigone and Ferguson relates to the social issues such as racialized violence and oppression in modern-day society. the theater production too k this to a personal level and wanted to honor the death of Michael brown and wanted to connect this issue to the story of Antigone. The theater artists had to look into the history of the location they were going to determine in the story .
The tragic connection between Antigone and Ferguson was losing their loved ones and injustice. The author relates this one to by researching the effect of society .
The sisters’s brother was left out in the open to rot, but Antigone is determined to bury his body in defiance of the new king’s orders. They related the events to modern day racialized violence, police brutality, systematic oppression etc.
The theater artists most likely needed to heavily research laws that were similar to now and back then. They most likely needed to find events similar to today as well.
