Discussion: Our Syllabus

Add a comment to this post. Discuss three pieces of information that caught your attention on the syllabus. These could be questions you have about grading or deadlines, comments on the online component, or observations about the chosen readings…really anything that catches your eye is fine.

By next class (Wednesday, September 1), review your classmates’ questions/comments, and respond to at least one. If someone had a question that you know the answer to, let them know. If you’re also excited about reading a particular text, say so!

    Just to make sure-
    1) Every week we will have assignments?
2)For all the writing part resources will be in the books?
3)How will be the exam done or we will just submit the papers?

    • Nayeli Gomez

That’s an interesting question I would also like to know how the exams or quizzes will be conducted.

    • Anlys Maldonado

We won’t be using books in the traditional sense. The course materials contain all of the reading assignments. It will mostly be available over the internet.

    1. Besides the weekly agenda which will go over the following week, will there be recording of Zoom meetings that would cover the week in the scenario there is an emergency in which a student can’t attend class?
    2. In regards to grades is there somewhere we can stay up to date on the grades on assignments with our GPA calculated based on said grades? I’m aware of such function on blackboard but am not as familiar with OpenLab.
    3. For office hours, do we need to email in advance to attend/obtain a different or do we use our usual class link during the mentioned office hours in the scenario we feel the need to have a meeting?

    2. Is it possible to make an advisement meeting at another time than your office hours?
    3. Is there any projects that we will have to submit during the time of the same class?

  11. Deyby Ramirez

I’m still trying to get used to online learning. I don’t have any specific questions about the syllabus at the moment. However, I’ll be happy to ask if I have any doubt in the future.

  12. Anlys Maldonado

I noticed that you said that we could revise one of our previous assignments. Is this an obligation or a chance to improve our final grade?

How long should the final reflection be?

Will we have questions for the final reflection, or do we write about our journey regarding the class assignments and what we learned.

    • Alvin Vasquez

Thank you for asking that question man. I was wondering if there was a certain amount of words needed for the final reflection.
