ā€œHow to Manufacture a Moral Panic.ā€ Www.youtube.com, 23 Jan. 2023, www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUxer0gRbQ4. Accessed 9 Nov. 2023.

Summary

QAnon thoughts have been taken up by mainstreet news pertaining to mainstream media. The Donā€™t Say Gay Bill has also surfaced because of similar concerns about children. There have also been rumors that the FBI set plans to track threats against the school board and teachers. Politicians have been appealing to both sides of the argument about children protection, but politicians have appealed to children before. There are examples of John Eton kissing a babyā€™s face, in order to appeal to mothers. Children have, in the past, had an association with innocence. Increased discussion around the sexual harm around children has increased from the past, which made people hyper aware of the issue itself. Because of this politicians can use this information to defend against new movements with the excuse of being ā€œfor the childrenā€. The notion about childrenā€™s innocence also often restricts talks of gender and sexual education, which leads to restricting rights, and also a popular political tool.

Reflection

I agree with this video because of its argument of children being against being tools for politicians. Though there have been cases of children being harmed needing to be seriously concerned about, that concern turned into a moral panic, which have been used to uplift politicians and their campaign. The use of children in this way is something I definitely disagree with. People should be taking action towards predators, and others of the like without using children for political needs and denying them rights. Overall, children and the moral panic of their harm is a serious issue that needs to be solved, but, we also need the added benefit of those children having themself be represented by a less innocent, neutral view.
