Reading “Shitty First Drafts” definitely affected my writing process as usually I would always have a method of just making one draft and sticking to it. I would also always be discouraged from writing as I felt that I had to get it right the first time and if not then my writing would be horrible. But reading that passage helped me forget that way of thinking and allowed me to write better myself. One of the best tips I got from it was to write nonsense at first. Like the first thoughts that come to mind, I just put it down regardless if it was professional or not since no one would read or grade it anyway. That method really helped me get my mind flowing with ideas of what I wanted to write about. And with that, it was easy to finish up my first draft. What also really helped me was the peer review as I got insight into what I needed to work on and make clearer since my writing can sometimes be hard to read.
