the readings that we completed in class prior to writing our narratives, such as the narratives by frederick douglass, malcolm x, and anita jiang, where definitely helpful to me in writing my own narrative. Those of malcolm x and douglass served to show what an interesting, well written narrative could look like, and inspired me to want to write in the first place. the narrative from Anita Jiang was helpful because it showed what a narrative by a fellow city tech student looked like. None of them alone where as helpful as all of them toghether because they each highlighted a different aspect that was important to focus on. I wouldn’t write a piece as long as those of douglass and malcolm x, but I also wanted to have my narrative feel less abrupt than jiangs. Anita jiangs was also especially helpful because it showed how we could include a simple but specific message in our piece.
