all three texts that we have read, are about peoples lives and their life experiences. douglass wrote as a free man reflecting on his experiences as a slave and likely wrote to advise other enslaved black people in his position, and to a lesser but still important extent to illustrate to his oppressors how ludicrous their power and control of knowledge was. Malcolm x reflected on the most important turning point in his life and how he changed into a self educated and reformed leader at his lowest point, realizing the hypocrisies and injustices systemically perpetuated by society. Anita jiang remembered how she first became interested in art and design and ultimately decided on her life and career path. All three are memoirs that strive to inform their readers, quietly demanding that you acknowledge their experiences and imploring the reader to learn from them. Although this is more of the writing style than purely the definition of an educational narrative, they are still exactly that and are written from lives, lived with the intent of helping to guide others.
