Shitty First Drafts
Work on your own âshitty first draftâ! Look at the material youâve generated through brainstorming and freewriting and use the process below to help you form your writing into a draft.
Respond to each of the questions/prompts and the direction at the end of this document!
First, answer the following questions:
What have you decided to focus on for your education narrative? Why have you chosen to tell this particular story? What I decided to focus on my education narrative is about the major I chose, and as to why I chose this particular story because I want to tell the people why architecture is my major that i chose.
What is the meaning/significance of your story? Why should people read it? Write this out in one sentence. The significance in my story is to inspired people to become architecture themselves and why should people read my story because it can motivate them to become an architecture themselves and also that architecture is a career that open’s up you imagination.
In one word, how do you want people to feel when they are done reading your story?
Inform.
Free write details you remember about the situation you are describing: include people, places, dialogue, feelings, thoughts, etc. that are in some way connected to your story.
Second, review what you have so far and try to label the features of your narrative arc.
Exposition/Inciting Incident (who, what, when, where and how does your story begin?)
My self is writing the story, is about the major that I chose which is architecture, it begins when i was 10 years old, my story takes place on New York.
Rising Action (you should include a lot of the story details here)
It all begin when I was 10 and when I came to New York and how I saw the big buildings in Manhattan and how they were build and that is when it start somehow my passion for architecture.
Climax (the moment of most drama and significance)
The moment that i realized when i wanted to become and architecture was when I started to like building stuff and looking at the manuals and being satisfied with the work that I’ve done.
Falling Action (what happened after?)
when it was time to start college i decided that the major that I wanted to chose is architecture.
Resolution (what was the result of this experience? What is the significance?)
The result of my experience now that I’m taking architecture now is that every single day I liked even more and I hope that one day i can become an architecture.
Finally, on a new piece of paper (or a new screen) use all the writing and thinking you have done to draft your education narrative.
