After a thorough second read of “Allegory of the Cave”, Plato was discussing how humans live in this world often contrasting the reality of such things against our interpretation. For example, the repetition of prisoners seeking solace in the darkness of the cave after reaching out into the sunlight is because they chose to reject such idea. However, if the prisoner were to embraced by the sunlight and accepting of it he chose to accept this as reality. The contrast here could be easily misunderstood as it means the thought of truth and how one is to perceive such truth hailing from different environments and experiences. The cave is despair one can choose to accept this as their reality but once one ventures out into the sun they can see that the cave was just a shallow representation of life, accepting of the sun. This contradictory of truth solely relies on the person themselves and whether they choose to accept or reject such based on their character.
