Summary:

This video is about cruelty to short life span animals. They use these animals with short life cycles for experiments and testing. In the video, they mention other alternatives which are cheaper and more effective. Using animals was necessary for making the covid19 vaccine, if not they would’ve taken longer to come up with the vaccine. That’s another reason why humans use animals, for research, if not then research would be behind.

Reflection:

I can see why testing on these animals may be necessary for certain products like the COVID-19 vaccines. What surprised me is that there are some products that don’t need animals for testing and companies still decide to use them. Like why still use animals if it’s unnecessary? It made me think if I show animal cruelty when I decide to kill a cockroach or a fly. I don’t really consider that to be animal cruelty just because they are very small and so many of them. Sometimes I do wonder if I had just killed a mother or a brother.

Quotation:

“But animal testing doesn’t always show us the whole picture. For example, some toxicity tests on rodents are only 43% accurate at predicting problems in humans. At least 85 HIV vaccines and some stroke drugs worked in animal test subjects but failed in humans.”
