An education narrative is a piece of writing that describes to readers about a person’s educational journey. The assigned stories can all be considered educational narratives because they all highlight the authors experience with education. Each one of the authors had a different experience: Douglass, who was a slave, started learning to read and write by his Master. Same for Malcolm, who stated he wasn’t articulate in reading and writing, but self-educated through the dictionary. On the other hand, Jiang, who grew up with her grandmother in China isolated from the West and education was viewed as a sin, had questions but no answers. It is clear that all they wanted was to fully experience life but needed an education or in other words knowledge to do so.
