As I read the story “how to read like a writer” I learned that the author was a college graduate on English major on London, but he was working on a movie theatre without experience. He used to read with a flashlight on and in the background he would hear sounds from movies which was very distracting. The author would read the sentence or even the paragraph several times to understand. I learned that reading several times help when you get distracted and intense concentration needed to understand the topic. I also noticed author was questioning about writing quotes on reading “Would you want to start your own essay with a quote?” I found this useful and when I write an essay I will try this technique to improve my writings.

Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12 – 1 PM. I’ll be available through Zoom and will send an invitation via email that you should keep all semester. Try to join my meeting at the start of the hour, not at the end—since I may be talking to other students or have another appointment after the hour is up.
