I like the darker photos because its less aggressive towards the eyes.

the darker photo gives a sense of mystery.
The background has a nice gradient of dark to light.
This is a lighter photo that does not have much sharp exposure and still some dark areas in the photo.

    good composition and exposure compensation in flickr.

    Good choices. Top 2 could be little lighter ( lightroom ) and keep the mood you wanted
