Dawoud Bey used photography to find his voice due to his hearing impairment. He compensated for his hearing loss by using his eyes as a way of contributing to the world and making a difference through his photography. His project named The Birmingham Project showed the impact that the KKK had on society when it came to African American life by showing how old the victims would have been in the present had the bombing not occurred.

Carrie Mae Weems used photography to find her voice by using her own environment and recognizing the number of things she could actually do in the said environment whenever she pleased. Her Kitchen Table Series reflected a voice for women and how domestic spaces like those of the kitchen table, historically belonging to women, begins to be altered in different situations.
3. How can you find your own voice?
You can find your own voice by looking around you and thinking about everything that is in your arms reach and how you can affect it physically. You can then apply that same mindset to what you’re passionate about and see how you can affect that. May that be through your thought process or your actual talent.
Both photographers draw on personal experience and passion for making their images. They found their voices through work and dedication
