Week 5 Lab Report – Network Switch Power Supply

Objective: We will take apart a network switch power supply and document the parts inside.

Materials:

Power supply
Cell Phone Camera
Screw driver (Flat)

Procedures: The Power supply is already dis-assembled. As a team we will identify the controllers, Actuators and sensors on the circuit board.

Identify the ports on the case
Attached to the case is a toggle switch
Power cord input

On the board itself

What appears to be micro chips, are actually IC DUAL DIFF COMP 8-DIP LM393P (ic mux )… This is a simple analog device. This device is not capable of processing any data.

Compactors
Copper Coil
Transformers
Diodes
Resisters
Magnets
Heat Sinks

Take Pics

Results:  We were able to identify that this device is simply an anolog device capable only of distributing power to another device. We identified the componants on the bord that makes up the device. The power supply does not posses any micro computer that capable of processing any data. This device is non- programmable.
