At the risk of appearing to be a sheeple, I’ve decided to focus on Will Wright.
This man is amazing in so many ways, people don’t always take the things he’s managed into consideration if one of his titles (*cough*SPORE*cough*) is less-than-stellar.
He started an empire that started off with just two workers, himself and Jeff Braun. His direction led to the creation of the gaming powerhouse Maxis and a series of games with a cultish following, The Sims. And while the company did have a slip-up-that-shall-not-be-named or two, it has been largely successful.
Will Wright has managed to create and innovate the field of near-reality game simulation, pushing out practically any competitor who comes along with offerings of a “better” game or system. His own studying and knowledge has led to the most complex, intertwined AI systems the realm of gaming has ever seen, and the advanced modeling techniques his creations display have raised the bar in all games looking for life-like simulation.
Will Wright has always been about releasing creativity and his games being a way not only for people to have fun, but to understand the world around them in new ways and offer a slight change in perspective while interacting with said world.
He is an innovator in multiple fields, interaction being just one of them, and he is not your average “make game;insert money” game designer.
