Professor Orwel is a writer, educator and philosopher of art in New York City. He edits and co-hosts Culture Road, a weekly podcast on culture and history. Born in Kenya and a graduate of Columbia University, he worked as a journalist during a 25-year reporting career. He is completing his doctoral dissertation on atmospheric sculptures at IDSVA while teaching African and American American art at the New York City College of Technology. Earlier, Orwel got a BA in linguistics and literature from the University of Nairobi, a JD from Brooklyn Law School, and trained in global media law and policy and Oxford University. Besides art, he has taught modern African history and literature.
