- Proposal – Google Drive.
- How can we raise student engagement on the Buzz?
- Bring out the benefits for new students, how they can use OL (not just for COMD)
- Highlighting the things we actually utilize & like
- Design – make it lively, use more colors in posts
- Campus screens – bee buzzing around in screen?
- Infographic of “did you know” campaign? Could also use it for posters, distribute to new students
- Highlighting more collaborative aspects of OL — using it for projects
- Idea: Introducing faculty, introducing student govt —
- if you have this kind of issue, this is who you should be reaching out to.
- Did you know this is your student body president?
- Corey
- ePortfolio community outreach compaigns
- information sessions & workshops, hands-on training sessions
- online tutorials & guides
- video tutorials
- Student ambassador program – recruit enthusiastic students with experience in OL & WordPress — peer to peer outreach
- Promotional Campaign
- NOTE: Ashley started building tutorials last semester, could be added on to
- Idea: Could collaborate with peer mentors/first year programs?
- Lyonel – What about a contest to design a landing page in OpenLab and use the results in an ad campaign “Created with OpenLab”
- Lyonel
- Create a wordpress block — create images with ai to include in your post?
- Create an image block – input a prompt, it will generate images for you
- Creating a contest (see suggestion above). Campaign “did you know you can create these with OpenLab”?
- Add a chatbot – could use ai to answer student questions, like “how do I create an ePortfolio?”
- Create a plugin. When you activate, have a little ? icon – when you click, you are able to chat with AI. Can provide AI with OpenLab documentation (or use general WordPress documentation)?
- Jenna: Help seems like a natural place for it. It would be available in the dashboard. Specifically for Portfolio?
- Create a wordpress block — create images with ai to include in your post?
- Saria
- 1. Promotion of OpenLab – posters (hand them out) or email them. Maybe merchandise or videos?
- 2. Create an OL channel for COMD students where they can add their coursework — there could be a mini-competition on OL where they could post their work, and others could see their work
- 3. For non-COMD students – template/theme
- re: chatbot discussion – Maybe there could be an OL Help department – ask the basic questions (ai response), but for questions it can’t answer can direct you to a person?
- Jody: used to be chatbot available on City Tech website but no longer is – would be good to look into why (what are the concerns?)
- Shabaj
- Google doc
- Portfolios: make template simpler for non-designers and newcomers
- Templates tailored for different departments – Architecture,
- Might not be required for program, but also there is nothing tailored for their uses.
- Want students to feel comfortable designing their portfolios – comfortable with WordPress, comfortable with templates.
- Created sample Persona – architecture student experiencing OL for first time
- Timeline: researching needs, …
- Was thinking about How To guide – but found Ashley’s on the Buzz. Having screenshots would be helpful!
- Darren
- Likes the Project Overview. (discussion)
- Jody: re: templates – we have two “generic” templates, could start with one of those, or start with the COMD template
