Sphear Forde

Hello everyone! My name is Sphear, my pronouns are she/her and my major is Professional and Technical Writing with a specialization in biology. This is my last semester at City Tech, and I have relatively enjoyed my time here. In my free time, I like to read, paint, and do DIY projects around the house. My favorite genres to read are dystopian fiction, nonfiction literature and true crime. Two current media topics that interest me are the immigration issue at the border and the increase in wildfires due to climate change.

Below is a picture of a hanging wooden butterfly I painted over the summer. It is one of my favorite craft paintings I have done this year. It symbolizes new beginnings and hope.  Each color of the butterfly corresponds with the overall message of the butterfly.  Green represents health, healing, wellbeing, and freshness. Blue represents peace. Yellow represents happiness, creativity, and warmth. White represents spiritual transformation, good luck, and prosperity.

Efaz Kareeb

Hello everyone my name is Efaz Kareeb. I am currently a junior at City Tech and I am majoring in Communication Design. I was born in NYC but I am from Bangladesh. My favorite color is blue. I like hanging out with my friends and I like drinking boba and listening to music and playing basketball. and traveling. College is becoming more and more stressful but it will become more harder and more difficult.

One meaningful thing is basketball because my friend taught me how to play basketball when I was in middle school he trained and ever since I have loved playing basketball and I used to play basketball with my friends every day after school also in the summertime too and also basketball helps to make new friends on the court and to connect with people and I love playing sports and when i play basketball I get excited and when I am stress I usually shot around with ball it brings my stress down and whenever I am mad it usually calms me down.

Cui Zhang [Introduction]

Hello everyone, my name is Cui Zhang (first name is pronounced as Q). My pronouns are she/her. I am currently living in Flushing, Queens. I am an upper senior currently majoring in Communication Design and pursuing the advertising route. This is my final semester here at City Tech. I am finally graduating with my BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) degree, cheers. I have many hobbies. During my free time, I like to take pictures of the sky (if they’re pretty), I like to draw, play games, fold stars, and do many DIY art crafts such as painting, or even decorating things with either washi tape, stickers or fake whipped cream glue. I am also a huge fan of collecting Funko pops as well as other mini figures.

The picture below is by far one of the pictures that is extremely meaningful. As a child, I’ve always been fascinated and always liked taking photos of the skies. I realized that taking photographs of the skies, it’s like telling an incredible story using our own point of view and our own imagination. The photograph was taken and created back in 2019. On the left, was the photograph I took, and on the right my friend used her imagination to create beautiful art out of it. Many people have different views when they see the photograph. Some of my friends said, they either saw a dragon, lobster, birds, butterflies..etc.  There are no right or wrong answers in the photograph on the left. It’s all based on our own imagination and what we see.

“The world is a canvas to our imagination”
