Throughout my time here at City Tech, I’ve worked on a number of assignments, each with there own requirements and challenges. Here are some of the projects I have done.

In my Communication Design 2 class, our first client presented to us was the eating establishment, Pret A Manger. After doing a lot of research and establishing a well based target audience and demographic, I created the Pret A Manger Phone App.

My final project in Typography 3 included designing Elle and Vanity Fair Magazine layouts which I really enjoyed. We were assigned to closely match the Elle and Vanity Fair layouts we were given as closely as possible and then to redesign whichever magazine we chose.

Creating Tashmahal Tea was one of the most fun projects I’ve ever done; it was the first time that I’ve ever created my own product. I was very pleased to have this project in Grace Gallery for the Spring 2014 Art Show.

Science Now is a made up newspaper section. By using just the few, selected images provided by my professor along with a limited word count, I created two varieties of the feature page.

For my Topics in Advertising class, our first client was the Chevrolet Bolt. The goal of this project was to create ads based on Bill Bernbach’s famous Volkswagen advertisements while working with a partner on this project. I thought up the body copy which was very limiting since the Chevrolet Bolt is a concept car and not out as yet, there was very little to go off of, but it seemed to work for us.

Designing an Inspirational Quote for Typography 2 class proved to be more demanding than I expected. After getting past dull and generic ideas, I finally came to a design I felt most embodied the quote.

The first project I did in my Packaging class was a redesign of Silk Almond Milk. After trying out five or six other designs, it turns out my professor thought that loved my last design the best. It definitely goes to show that you shouldn’t always go with your very first thought.

When I took my first communication design class, creating posters for Cirque du Soleil was a little intimidating at first. I was over thinking it for too long. When I realized that I didn’t necessarily have to do what had already been done, it suddenly became clear to me what I should do.

Most recently this past week, I have done my first project outside of school. It is an invitation for Metropolitan Commercial Bank & Moliver Law Networking Breakfast. I also did a follow up page, About Marianna Moliver & Metropolitan Commercial Bank, and a Banner Ad as well. Since this was my first project outside of school, the pressure was definitely on; the last thing I wanted to do was disappoint the client. I experienced first hand how dealing with a real client is – constantly making changes and receiving approval just to make sure everything is perfect right down to the last detail is essential.
