Locking the layer on the other hand, prevents accidental selection or modification of objects on that layer, providing a safeguard against unintentional changes while working on other elements of the user’s work. Lastly, rearranging layers enables the user to control the stacking order of objects within the user’s work, determining which elements appear in front of or behind others.

The Value of Creating layers in illustrator is good because it lets you organize everything that your doing you, You can name each one and you can go to them easily, because if you just have one layer and your trying to do something it will mess up other things and not get to what you actually need. To close a triangle you go to the pen tool hold shift and click then do it again and go back to where you started to close the triangle.
